From 24 October, theArmenia tightened the conditions for access to e-Visa for nationals indians, Iraqis and Egyptians. This decision comes against a backdrop of growing concerns about immigration and the control of migratory flows in the country. The new measures impose a more complex procedure requiring supporting documents, in order to limit extended stays and regulate the influx of visitors from these nationalities. This development raises questions about both the economic impact and social perceptions in Armenia.

From 24 October, access to Armenian territory for Armenian nationals will be restricted. indians, Iraqis and Egyptians has become more complex. The Armenian government suspended the electronic visa for these nationalities, unless they have a valid visa for a Western region. This decision was taken in response to a rise in immigration problems, as the country faces a large influx of these visitors.

The recent refinement of the e-Visa rules was prompted by growing concerns about the management of migratory flows. Indeed, data indicates that an impressive number of visitors from India, Iraq and Egypt have entered Armenia, with significant repercussions on the control of stays. The Armenian authorities have become aware of the underlying issues, particularly the cases of " overstayers "who extend their stay beyond the legally authorised period.

This government decision is not unanimously supported within the Armenian community. On the one hand, some support it, seeing it as a way of protecting national identity and better managing migratory flows. On the other hand, many citizens are concerned about the economic repercussions and the image that this situation will project internationally.

Lilitowner of a bed and breakfast in the centre of Yerevan, echoes these concerns: "We can't complain about the lack of tourists on the one hand and close our borders on the other. These visitors support many businesses and contribute to the local economy.

In addition to this emergency measure for Indian, Iraqi and Egyptian nationals, the Armenian government is considering a wider review of its migration system. Proposals such as the introduction of quotas by nationality, tighter border controls and a tourist tax to fund reception facilities are currently being studied.

For more information on the procedures to follow, please consult the resources available online, in particular at documents required and theprocedure in the event of refusal visa.

With effect from 24 October, Armenia has tightened the conditions of access to e-Visa for Indian, Iraqi and Egyptian nationals.
